Castellón de la Plana, Spain
Castellón de la Plana (with population of about 175 thousands people), is the capital city of the province of Castelló, in the Valencian Community, in the east of the Iberian Peninsula. The city is located on the fertile plain known as La Plana between the mountains and the sea on the the Costa del Azahar, one of the most beautiful stretches of Spanish Mediterranean coast.
Castellón has a long and turbulent history. The first known building in the area was the Moorish castle of Fadrell.
The town itself was officially founded in 1251 after the reconquest of the Kingdom of Valencia by King James I
of Aragon.
Castellon is a remarkable city in which broad, modern avenues adjacent to the historic narrow streets and secluded squares create a unique atmosphere.
