Colombia, situated in northwestern South America is the only country on the continent to have both a Pacific and Caribbean coast. It's a tropical country of incredible diversity and charm. Modern, vibrant cities with skyscrapers and nightclubs along with charming colonial cities and archaeological ruins; gorgeous Caribbean beaches along with high Andes Mountains; dense, tropical Amazon jungle along with coffee plantations. The sun, the fecund earth, emeralds and the warmth of the locals - Columbia is like a dreamland. No wonder the country is the homeland of the El Dorado legend and the magical universe of Garcia Marquez’s novels. Although the country is known in the world for drug and violence, a lot has been done in recent years to make both locals and travelers feel safe.
