Cork English College

Cork English College was founded in 1978 and is celebrating its 30th Anniversary in 2008. Since its establishment, Cork English College has built up an excellent reputation in Europe and far beyond for both its courses and accommodation.

CEC offers an array of high quality courses all year round to suit all levels including Business English and exam preparation plus summer junior activity programmes for the younger student. The accommodation offered includes homestays and shared apartments as well as luxury apartments, which meet the highest of standards. This wide range of accommodation options ensures that CEC has something to suit all tastes and needs.

CEC is a member of the Quality English network of schools and is recognised by the Department of Education for the teaching of English as a foreign language. Furthermore CEC has ISO 9001:2000 accreditation. We guarantee quality courses and a friendly, personal service.

Classes at Cork English College are organised and run according to academic programmes which are level specific and all students are assessed before being admitted to class. The average class size is 6 - 8. Courses at CEC range from General and Intensive courses to Business English. In addition to these, we also offer examination preparation classes for the TOEIC, IELTS and Cambridge Exams. Younger students ( ages 11 to 16) can join our English and activity programmes which are run in the summer months of July and August and we accept both group and individual bookings on these courses. The activity programmes range from multi-sport programmes which involve several types of sports to English and Golf, and English and Horseriding. As well as the sporting activities , these students also join a cultural programmes with trips and excursions to various tourist attractions.

An interesting selection of activities and excursions form part of the social and cultural programme at Cork English College. The main concept behind offering such a programme is to give students the opportunity to put their language skills to practical use in a more relaxing environment, to socialise with fellow students outside the classroom and to sample the famous Irish way of life. The majority of these activities and trips are free of charge and are scheduled to take place in the afternoons and evenings when most of the students can avail of them.

Both the administration and academic departments at CEC operate an ‘open-door policy' which means that a member of the friendly CEC staff is always available to talk to any student who may require assistance or information or who would simply like a friendly chat.
